The pristine beaches of Phuket are poised for a stunning transformation, as real estate leader Sansiri Plc focuses on the island’s potential to emerge as Thailand’s premier center for economic growth. With a dedicated vision for this tropical haven, Sansiri is ramping up its efforts to harness Phuket's strategic significance and stimulate a new era in real estate.
Thanks to recent revisions in Thailand's visa policies, Phuket anticipates attracting an impressive 16 million tourists this year, exceeding even pre-pandemic figures, as noted by Sansiri President Uthai Uthaisangsuk.
"Projected tourism revenue is expected to reach a staggering 500 billion baht, positioning Phuket alongside iconic destinations like Miami and Dubai,” he stated.
This surge in tourism has ignited a frenzy in the real estate market, with soaring demand for stylish residences, leisure facilities, and investment opportunities. Sansiri is also introducing luxury branded residences aimed at affluent international visitors and investors, highlighting that Phuket is evolving beyond sun and sand into a dynamic hub of opportunity, Uthai added.
"For over 13 years, Phuket has been a cornerstone of Sansiri’s strategy, establishing us as pioneers in the local market. We’ve built trust and integrated ourselves with the island’s development, and we will continue to strengthen Phuket as a flagship center for our operations.”
Sansiri is fully committing to Phuket’s property market, launching projects valued at an impressive 26 billion baht. Over the next five years, they plan to unveil 27 new ventures worth an estimated 25 billion baht, reaffirming their dedication to this flourishing market.
The evolution of Phuket into a world-class destination is not a solitary endeavor. Both public and private investments are converging to enhance the island’s economic appeal. Significant infrastructure upgrades are underway, including transport enhancements, airport expansions, and urban development projects to support the booming tourism sector.
Key government initiatives include the expansion of Highway 4027 and a new bridge, which will cost 650 million baht and is expected to be completed by July 2026.
Additionally, the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is making strides with ambitious expressway projects, such as the Kathu-Patong and Muang Mai-Koh Kaew-Kathu routes, along with the nation’s first mountain tunnel, designed to serve as a landmark.
Phuket Airport is also undergoing significant improvements, with Phase 2 of its expansion aimed at increasing annual passenger capacity from 12.5 million to 18 million by 2029. Plans also include a seaplane terminal and potential new routes connecting to Samui, Pattaya, and Hua Hin.
Beyond Phuket, the 80 billion baht Andaman Airport in Phang Nga is on track to manage 22.5 million passengers annually by 2030-2031, enhancing regional connectivity.
In the private sector, notable projects are already attracting attention, including the 4.3 billion THB Bumrungrad International Hospital and the luxurious Clinique La Prairie wellness center, both reinforcing Phuket’s status as a health and wellness tourism hotspot.
To cater to affluent families and travelers, 14 international schools and four upscale yacht marinas are also being developed.
Sansiri is not stopping there; the introduction of The Society, Phuket’s first international social space in Bang Tao - CherngTalay, promises a vibrant blend of dining, work, and leisure experiences, according to Uthai.
"The Society embodies Phuket’s dynamic essence, seamlessly connecting its beautiful beaches with its lively urban atmosphere while appealing to a global audience.”
